A Greenwith man stopped at a driver testing station in Whyalla has exceeded the prescribed concentration of alcohol by nearly five times the legal limit.
Police pulled over a 44-year-old-man for a random breath test on Racecourse Road shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
He was reported for exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol after he blew a reading of .237 per cent.
"This sort of behaviour on our roads, given the high media profile given to traffic offences recently, is beyond comprehension," Whyalla Police Senior Sergeant Bartlett said.
"There are very serious consequences to drink-driving; someone could be killed.
"These types of offenders are a danger to themselves and other road users."
The driver was issued an immediate 12-month license suspension and his vehicle has been wheel clamped.
In another case of brazen disregard for the law, police will allege a 31-year-old Whyalla Stuart man recorded a reading of .108 per cent.
He was pulled over on Wednesday afternoon and reported for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol.
His driver's license was immediately suspended for six months.
