8/10/2008 11:30:00 PM
Whyalla police held a traffic stop over the long weekend, with 2114 vehicles checked over a two-day period.

It was a vehicle, licence and drug stop, with one arrest made and three cannabis expiation notices issued.

The police drug dog was used on the second day, with 22 vehicles defected and 34 expiation notices issued.

"We were please with the results and will continue to mount this sort of operation into he future," Senior Sergeant Andrew Bartlett said.

Overall, Whyalla police were relatively quiet on the weekend, and were pleased with the general behaviour in the town.

From October 2 until October 6, there were three reports and six arrests made for various offences.

This included a driver being caught with a blood alcohol level of 0.205 at 10.30pm on October 2.

The 52-year-old man was caught driving more than four times over the legal limit and was refused bail to appear in court this week.
