Police hope to identify more victims of theft spree

16/05/2008 10:42:00 AM
Whyalla Police want to identify more victims of a series of break-in allegedly committed by a 35-year-old man over a period of time.

With an open day to identify more than 150 items today and the publicity of the notorious spree police are hopeful that some victims would contact them.

The man will appear in court later today charged with 14 break-ins, four unlawful on premises charges, 15 theft charges, three illegal interference and one charge related to assault.

Police recovered a camera from the accused and after developing the film roll found family photographs of people believed to be on holiday.

Whyalla News is publishing some general photographs to safeguard the identity of the people photographed.

Senior Constable Daniel Parish said investigations were continuing and charges would be added or amended if more victims are identified.

He said anyone who wants to look at the collection of the photos could contact the Whyalla Police Station.

“We believe that the people in the photo were on holiday in a destination outside of Whyalla and the surrounding towns,” Senior Constable Parish said.

“If anyone is missing a camera and had some holiday photos in it they should contact us.”

Ring 8648 8020 for more details on the recovered items and the photographs.
