All roads lead to Memorial Oval this Saturday when league leaders West take on the in-form South Whyalla, in what promises to be an exciting contest full of pace, skill and hopefully a goal kicking bonanza from both sides.
Last time the two met West had a comfortable victory but since then the Demons have made great improvement and have played some exhilarating football.
One of their fine attributes is to kick goals in a short space of time to set up a match winning break.
McIntosh, Sultan, Wilson and Doolan can impose themselves ever so quickly on a game and this could be all the more damaging on the smaller expanse of Memorial Oval.
However this West side, with so many old West Whyalla names running around in young bodies have stood up to every challenge and are playing a very confident brand of running football.
They will be without Everett and Winders through injury but will get back class ruckman Harlan to help young Ben English combat the in-form Brad Page.
The Dragons defence of Manfield, Maitland, and Aaron Smith, relishing his new roll in defence, will have to be at their very best to curb the influence of the South forwards as this duel will be instrumental in the outcome of the game.
Whilst West will be relying on their experienced players, it is their young guns that add the spice to this Dragon recipe; Alex Manners whether on a wing or playing half back is in good touch, Scott Norman on a wing, Cody Patterson running on the ball or in defence, Matt Fargher and Blake Symonds, all adding skill and pace to the Dragon outfit.
Throw in Henderson and Nowak up forward who are the oldest of this group at 21 years and 19 years and you can see why some West people are getting excited.
South coming of that wonderful drawn game against North will be without Bucskin, Weetra and youngsters Troy Miller and Anthony Mckenzie but have regained the services of Aaron Freeth after a two-year absence through a knee injury.
Whyalla football is supplying much excitement this year, the best I have seen for a long time, I expect this game to be no different, as I did tip the draw two weeks ago and that puts me in guru status for at least another week.
I believe West will just get over the top of the Demons by a slender margin of 10 points, only because their defence may be able to negate the South forwards better.
