Roopena will start favourites over Weeroona Bay this Saturday at Memorial Oval.
Roopena have won two from four games thus far and coach Kelly has the team playing a very accountable brand of football.
The Roos have lost more players from last year’s side than any other, however their younger players like Brereton, Kwaterski, Hannemann, Zucker, Durdin and Elliot have taken the next step to ensure the club is still very competitive.
That was evident last week against the undefeated West, where they lost the game in the last five minutes.
Hopefully they will regain the services of Bodinner, Williams and Burgess, all from injury, this will add some much needed goal kicking potential to the forward line.
There will be some doubt over the fitness of Matt Manfield and Cook who were injured last week.
The Bays have also won two of their four games but their form over the last two weeks has been scratchy.
Unavailability has effected them, such is the state of Whyalla football at the moment, missing players can be the difference between a close win or loss.
If the likes of Appleton and Parker are available and Andrew Hoffman, Lee Ringland, Anthony Malcolm and Matt Ellis continue their good form, they can take it up to the Roos.
Both clubs are celebrating their 40-year anniversary.
They both originated back in 1968 when they fielded three junior sides.
They have come a long way since those humble days, a keen rivalry has always existed and I expect no different this Saturday.
