Two Whyalla boxers travelled to Tanunda (Barossa) last weekend to compete at a local boxing tournament.
Whyalla's Shaun Schaff and Chelsea Diggle were the only boxers from Whyalla matched.
There were four Whyalla boxers, but only two being matched in their divisions.
A huge crowd expected for the show, saw twelve fights matched up.
Shaun being matched up against Adelaide favourite Tom Morrison.
Tom was slightly taller, also having more fights under his belt over Shaun.
Matched up third on the card, Shaun was very nervous and feeling sick, but when the first bell rang, he had risen to the occasion.
In the first round, Shaun and Tom were exchanging combos, with Shaun having a slight lead after round one.
In the second and third round, Shaun's opponent was back-tracking, leaving Shaun attacking his opponent and scoring a very clever win.
Both boys gave their all, but the improvement of Shaun's skills were brilliant on the night and saw him a clear winner.
Shaun, only having one loss to his name, will see him have a greater challenge for the Whyalla fight night.
Whyalla's only female, Chelsea Diggle, was matched up against local girl Ushey Atryn.
Ushey had the crowd behind her and less experience but Chelsea was hungry for a win.
From the opening bell, Chelsea led the round with big attacks, her opponent turning her head away, unable to respond.
In the second round, Chelsea was dominant again, nearly putting eight counts on her opponent but with the crowd cheering, Ushey held on.
The final round, Chelsea started chasing her opponent around the ring with big hoods and right hands, leaving her with a polished performance, and again a winner.
Chelsea had three fights in three weeks so it was a challenge to pull up as well as she did.
A full credit to Ushey for taking the challenge which will leave her with a lot of homework to do.
To top off the night, Chelsea was awarded the best boxer of the tournament and now has her sights set on the Whyalla fight nights on September 13.
The Whyalla Boxing and Fitness Club, now has six fighters lined up for the Whyalla show, hoping to get all matched up.
More information still to come in upcoming weeks, so stay tuned.
