City Council investigates flooding

16/05/2008 10:55:00 AM

The Editor,

I wish to clarify a media report last Friday, not in the Whyalla News, which clearly implied that a tap left switched on overnight by a council employee caused several thousand dollars worth of damage through flooding of council and Westpac offices.

This matter is still under investigation and there is no evidence at this stage that a council officer was responsible.

The toilet facility in which the incident occurred is not generally used by council staff.

It would appear, regrettably, that the particular media has jumped to an incorrect assumption before thoroughly checking the full details.
