Council applauded

The editor,

Our association would like to applaud the actions of the Whyalla City Council in relation to the recently completed work carried out on Government Road in the Backy Bay and Douglas Point areas.

It has been a long time coming but the sealing of the roadway with bitumen in these two built up areas in particular is important to the safety of all concerned.

Your council workers and contractors must be congratulated for their efforts in keeping any disruptions during construction to a minimum and for their cooperation with the public (shack owners) during this time.

Also your council's involvement in a recent meeting with delegates from our association regarding the Aquaculture Draft Policy 2008 and your acceptance of our intended submission and your commitment to also presenting a submission must be congratulated.

We believe the liaison between the Whyalla City Council and the Cultana Jenkins Shackowners Association is in a healthy state and it is paramount to us that this open and transparent dialogue continues.
